Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026 · Effective: October 16, 2026
The short version. We collect as little as we can. The app works without an account and asks for no device permissions: no location, no contacts, no tracking. What we do see is what any server sees (your IP address and the requests the app makes), anything you type into The Sharp, and whatever you send us when you contact us. We don't sell your data and we don't share it with advertisers or gambling operators.

1. Who we are and what this covers
This Privacy Policy describes how Ball Knowledge ("Ball Knowledge", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you use the Ball Knowledge app for iOS, the website at getballknowledge.net, and related services (the "Service"). It does not cover third-party sites or services we link to, such as YouTube, which have their own policies.
2. What we collect
| Category | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Request and device data | IP address, approximate region derived from it, app version, iOS version, device model, language, request timestamps, the screens and data the app requests, error and crash reports | Automatically, when the app or site talks to our servers |
| What you type into The Sharp | Your questions and the answers generated; the tools consulted | You |
| Account data (only if you create an account; the app does not require one) | Email address, sign-in identifier (for example a Sign in with Apple token), display name, settings, saved callers or picks | You, or Apple if you use Sign in with Apple |
| Purchase data (only if you subscribe) | Subscription status, product, renewal date, an anonymised App Store transaction identifier. We never receive your card number or billing details; Apple handles payment. | Apple |
| Waitlist | The email address you give us on the website to be told when the app launches, the time you joined and the country your connection came from | You |
| Communications | Emails and reports you send us, including error reports on picks, and our replies | You |
| Preferences stored on your device | Selected league, chosen windows, settings | Stored locally on your device; not sent to us unless tied to an account |
What we do not collect. The app does not request your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, health data, or advertising identifier (IDFA), and does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework because it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not collect your betting account details, deposits, wagers or balances with any sportsbook: we have no connection to any.
3. How we use it
- To run the Service: deliver picks, records and data to your device, answer your questions to The Sharp, keep your settings and subscription working.
- To keep it reliable and safe: diagnose errors, prevent abuse, scraping and fraud, enforce our Terms, verify age where we have reason to.
- To improve it: understand which features are used, review The Sharp's questions and answers in aggregate to make it more accurate, fix mis-read picks you report.
- To communicate: reply to you, send service notices (for example changes to Terms). We do not send marketing email unless you opt in, and you can opt out any time.
- To comply with law and protect rights: respond to lawful requests, protect the rights, safety and property of users, creators, the public and us.
We do not use your data to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. The Sharp generates content but makes no decision about you.
4. Who we share it with
- Service providers that process data for us under contract: hosting and content-delivery providers (for example Cloudflare and the servers that run our API), crash-reporting and analytics tools if we add them, email providers, and AI model providers that process The Sharp's questions to generate answers. They may use the data only to provide their service to us.
- Apple, for App Store distribution, purchases and Sign in with Apple, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, subpoena or court order, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect someone's safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or protect our rights.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of it; this Policy will continue to apply to it.
- With your direction. For example if you share a screen from the app.
We do not share your personal information with sportsbooks, gambling operators, affiliates of gambling operators, data brokers or advertisers.
5. We do not sell or share for advertising
We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar state laws. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months. The Service does not show third-party ads.
6. How long we keep it
- Server request logs: up to 90 days, then deleted or reduced to aggregate statistics.
- Waitlist emails: until the app has launched and the invite and launch email have been sent, then no more than 12 months, or sooner if you ask us to remove you.
- The Sharp conversations: up to 12 months for quality review, unless tied to an account you delete sooner.
- Account data: for as long as your account exists, then deleted within 30 days of a deletion request, except where we must keep records to comply with law, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
- Support emails and pick reports: up to 3 years.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the data we hold, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls and minimal data collection. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you transmit to us.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access, correct, delete. You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing privacy@getballknowledge.net from the address on your account (or describing your device and usage if you have no account). If the app offers account deletion in Settings, that works too. We will respond within 45 days, or as the law requires.
- Subscriptions. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings.
- Marketing. Any marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Device permissions. The app requests none; there is nothing to revoke.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Because we do not track you or sell data, these signals change nothing about how we treat you, but we honour them where they apply.
9. California and other US state rights
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, New Jersey, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to access it in a portable form; to correct it; to delete it; to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising and certain profiling (we do none of these); and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Exercise them by emailing privacy@getballknowledge.net. We will verify your request by matching the information you provide with what we hold. You may use an authorised agent with written permission. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.
Categories of personal information collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (IP address, email and sign-in identifier if you have an account), internet or network activity (app requests, screens used), commercial information (subscription status), and the content of communications you send us. We collect them from you, your device and Apple, for the purposes in Section 3, and disclose them to the service providers in Section 4. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Shine the Light. California Civil Code §1798.83 lets California residents ask about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing. We make none.
10. Users outside the United States
The Service is operated from the United States and intended for US users. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from yours. If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (running the Service), our legitimate interests (security, improvement, communication) and your consent where we ask for it; you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. Contact privacy@getballknowledge.net.
11. Children and minors
The Service is for adults 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and the App Store age rating reflects this. If you believe a minor has used the Service or given us information, email privacy@getballknowledge.net and we will delete it.
12. Information about creators and public figures
The Service displays the names, likenesses as shown on their public channels, and short quotations of hosts and guests of publicly available sports betting shows, together with records derived from what they said on those shows. This is public information about public statements, used for commentary, criticism and record-keeping. We do not collect private information about creators. A creator who believes a quotation or attribution is inaccurate, or who has any other concern, can write to creators@getballknowledge.net.
13. Cookies and the website
getballknowledge.net uses no cookies for tracking or advertising. Our hosting provider may set strictly necessary cookies for security (for example to mitigate bots) and keeps standard server logs. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font file is fetched; see Google's privacy policy. If we add privacy-respecting analytics in future we will update this section.
14. Changes
We may update this Policy. The "Last updated" date shows when. For material changes we will notify you in the app or on the site, and by email where we have it, before they take effect.
